Why More and More Retirees are Moving to Ecuador

As inflation is rising and people are starting to think about their retirement, it is hard to see staying in the US as an option. A lot of people have started to entertain the idea of moving abroad. Why you may ask? Living abroad allows for a great quality of life at half the price. Take it from an expat living here.

Ecuador is only a 3.5 hour flight from Miami (not bad, eh?) So for many retirees, they are still able to come back and forth to visit their family or grandchildren. There are also several other direct flight options like Fort Lauderdale, Houston, New York City, Atlanta, etc.

Ecuador uses the US dollar which makes spending money easy (No converting numbers in your head).

There are more and more retirees moving to Ecuador every year. The community of retirees is growing and makes it easy for you to find good friendships living here.

The weather. Granted it depends where you live in Ecuador, but if you decide on a city like Quito or Cuenca, the weather is pretty mild year round. There are no big extreme temperatures! You won't have to worry about scraping snow off of your car or dealing with an entire season of summer. The weather is a huge selling point to moving here and you can thank the altitude of some of the cities for keeping temps mild. If you are more of a beach person, then you might have a lot warmer of temps, but hey, that's good beach weather!

Cost of Living. This should be a huge one for most people. For what you could afford in your home country, you can afford that and MORE living in Ecuador. We are able to send our dogs to daycare three times a week, have someone come cook and clean our house, have a person come organize our house (what?!), and many other luxuries that we would not be able to afford if we still lived in the US. Not to mention you can get spa treatments, nails, laser hair, and many other things at a fraction of the price.

Medical Bills. Let's be honest trying to book a doctors appointment in the US is a pain in the a$$. Here, you can message your doctor via Whatsapp and get an appointment pretty quickly. I've had routine visits here for years now and cannot complain. I even had a surgery here and my doctor gave me his personal number to call him at any time of day or night if I had complications. What?! Amazing!! Also all of this for a fraction of the price.

These are just a few of the reasons that people are making the move to Ecuador. We hope to have you here soon!
